The garnet species is found in many colours including pink, orange, yellow, green, purple, brown and black. The most common being a deep red colour. The rarest is the blue, which was discovered in the late 1990's in Madagascar. This is a very interesting specimen of garnet as it changes colour from a blue-green in sunlight to a purple-red in incandescent light.
